Mysore
Mysore (officially called Mysuru) is a city in Karnataka, India. Mysore is 140 kilometres (87 miles) south-west of Bangalore. Travel time from Bangalore to Mysore is 2-3 hours by road or rail. Mysore is the second largest city in Karnataka. [1] [2]
Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Chamundi Hills, Brindavan Gardens, and Mysore Zoo [3] are the places to see in Mysore. Some people go to Mysore to see the Dasara procession.
Mysore is famous for its rich history and culture. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore for many years before India became independent. The city has many old buildings and palaces that show its royal past.
The local language spoken in Mysore is Kannada, but many people also speak English and Hindi. Mysore is known for its traditional silk sarees called Mysore silk, which are popular all over India.
Every year, the Mysore Dasara festival is celebrated with great excitement. During this festival, the city is decorated with lights and there are cultural shows, music and dance performances.
Mysore is also an important center for education. It has many schools, colleges and universities. The city has peaceful parks and clean streets, making it a nice place to live and visit.
In addition to tourism,[4] Mysore has industries like information technology, weaving and sandalwood products. The nearby Chamundi Hills are a popular spot for hiking and offer a beautiful view of the city.[5]
