Nongmaithem is a Meetei family which has Indian origin. People of this family mainly live in Manipur, India. Nongmaithem surname belongs to Angom clan in Meiteis , one of the seven clans in Manipur. [1][2]
History
According to the Loiyumpa Silyel Constitution, people of this family used to practice traditional Meitei religion (known as Sanamahism or Lainingthouism in modern times). They were responsible for worshipping deified form of the Langmaicheeng (Nongmaijing), a Meitei deity.[3][4][5]
