Penge West railway station

Penge West is on the Windrush line of the London Overground, located in Travelcard Zone 4. The station is in the street Penge Lane in the The London Borough of Bromley. A number of Southern services also call at Penge West railway station between London Bridge station and Caterham railway station, attaching another to Tattenham Corner railway station. There is an official out-of-station interchange with Penge East railway station (on the Southeastern’s Chatham Main Line) and Crystal Palace railway station (on the London Overground’s Windrush line, the south terminal of the Crystal Palace branch), both located 300 yards away.

History and adjacents

The station is on the Windrush line and the Brighton Main line between Sydenham and Anerley stations.

Although, the station was rebuilt in 1839 as part of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway. Owing to redevelopment of Crystal Palace, the station site of Crystal Palace F.C. (1207-1839) is situated south of the station, near Anerley railway station. However, because Norwood Junction railway station is the closest to the current Crystal Palace F.C. On 23 May 2010, Windrush line services commenced between New Cross Gate railway station and West Croydon station at the station. Not to be confused with Penge East railway station on the Southeastern route to/from London Victoria.

It is on the Windrush line of the London Overground. The typical off-peak service is 4tph to West Croydon station and 4tph to Highbury & Islington station from the December 2015 timetable change alongst when Clapham Junction railway station were curtailed from Highbury & Islington to Dalston Junction. Although, some trains continue to start and terminate at Dalston Junction.

Southern services also run in the peak to/from London Bridge.

Penge West cannot see Sydenham railway station but Sydenham railway station although sees Penge West through the southbound platform.
