Presidential Commission on Good Government

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) is a government group in the Philippines. Its main job is to get back the money and property that Ferdinand Marcos, his family, and his close friends got in illegal ways, whether in the Philippines or in other countries. It was started by President Corazon Aquino soon after she became president in 1986, after the People Power Revolution. PCGG also works to look into other corruption cases and to make plans to stop corruption.

After the PCGG was created, President Aquino froze the Marcos family's assets in the Philippines. She also gave PCGG the job to talk with other countries so that the Marcos wealth overseas could be brought back to the Philippines. This gave PCGG both legal and diplomatic powers.

Since the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law of 1988, the money recovered by PCGG is used to pay for land reform in the Philippines. More than 80 percent of the land reform budget comes from this money.
