René Moawad (Arabic: رينيه معوض; 17 April 1925 – 22 November 1989) was a Lebanese politician. He was elected as the 13th President of the Lebanese Republic for 17 days in 1989, from the 5th of November until his assassination.[1][2]
Death
On November 22, 1989, seventeen days after being elected, Moawad, 64, and 23 others were killed as he is returning from Lebanon's Independence Day celebrations by a 250 kg car bomb was detonated next to his motorcade in West Beirut.
