The Respect and Freedom Party (Hungarian: Tisztelet és Szabadság Párt, TISZA) is a centre-right political party in Hungary.[1] It was founded in 2020 and is led by Péter Magyar.
The party was founded in 2020 but gained national prominence in 2024 when it ran in the European Parliament and Budapest municipal elections. With just three months of preparation and no nationwide organization, it came in second in both elections. This rapid rise is unprecedented in Hungarian politics, making it the main challenger to Fidesz, which has governed for fourteen years.
History
The party was founded in 2020 but the 2024 European Parliament election, it gained 29.6% of the votes, making it the leading opposition party against Fidesz.[2]
