Richey Edwards
Richard James Edwards (born 22 December 1967 – missing since 1 February 1995; declared dead 23 November 2008) was a Welsh musician. He was the lyricist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. He gained cult status for his songwriting and appearance. He has been called a leading lyricist of his generation, and he was part of a movement now known as Cool Cymru. Edwards was born in Blackwood, Monmouthshire.
Edwards went missing on 1 February 1995 at the age of 27. His car was later found near the Severn Bridge, a known suicide spot. It is widely believed that Edwards had jumped from the bridge. He was declared dead in absentia on 23 November 2008.[1]
