Richard Derek Blight (October 17, 1955 – April 3, 2005) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger. Blight played a total of 5 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played with the Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings.
Blight was drafted with the 10th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1975 NHL Entry Draft. After Blight retired from hockey, he became a stockbroker and marketing consultant. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.[1]
Blight disappeared on April 3, 2005. After two weeks and a Canada-wide search, his body was found dead in a field on his farm near Lake Manitoba with his pickup nearby. It was confirmed that Blight had committed suicide.[2]
