The Archdiocese of Buenos Aires is an ecclesiastical constituency of the Catholic Church in Argentina.
It is a Latin archdiocese, metropolitan seat of the ecclesiastical province of Buenos Aires. Between 1936 and 2024 it was the primal seat of Argentina. On 13 March 2013, Cardinal Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected pope, taking the name of Francis. On 22 July 2024, the primatial see of Argentina was transferred to the Archdiocese of Santiago del Estero.[1] The current archbishop, since 26 May 2023, is Jorge Ignacio García Cuerva.
