Rural areas in the United States
The rural United States (U.S.) are rural settings located in the United States. Around 97% of the land of the United States is rural itself, yet only around 60.8 million people (including around 12 million children) reside in the rural United States, or 1 in 5 residents, out of a population of 340 million people in the entire country. Rural settings tend to be poorer and their population are mostly older, mainly because of rural flight amongst younger people, basic and declining infrastructure, and fewer job opportunities and economic prospects.
