Sanongba Lasumthomba (Old Manipuri: ꯁꯅꯣꯡꯄꯥ ꯂꯥꯁꯨꯝꯊꯣꯝꯄꯥ, romanized: Sanongpa Lasumthompa) was the father of Meitei king Chalamba, Khongnamba (the Wangkheirakpa),[1] Chingayanba (ancestor of Wangkheimayums).[2][3]
Background
Sanongba Lasumthomba was the fourth great-grandson of Meitei king Thangbi Lanthaba.[4] Thangbi Lanthaba was the second cousin of Meitei king Telheiba and Tonaba, their grandfathers were sons of Meitei king Chingthang Lanthaba.[5] In kingship, Telheiba's line continued the rule of the Ningthouja dynasty until Meitei king Tangja Ngamba Tangjamba. Since Tangjamba died at the age of 29, his son was young and could not ascend the throne so,[6][7] Sanongba Lasumthomba's second son, Chalamba ascended the throne and his line continued the rule of the Ningthouja dynasty.[8]
Family
Sanongba Lasumthomba had two wives, namely;
- Angom Chanu Haosong Ngambi
- Leichollakpa Tolongkhombi Chanu
Angom Chanu Haosong Ngambi gave birth to Chalamba and Khongnamba (the Wangkheirakpa); and Leichollakpa Tolongkhombi Chanu gave birth to Chingayanba (the Wangkheimayum ancestor).[4][3]
