Scarlet is the fourth studio album by American rapper and singer Doja Cat. It was released through Kemosabe and RCA Records on September 22, 2023. This album marks her final release under both labels, as she departed months after its release and founded an independent record label called "Scarlet Girl Records" as well as a creative company called "Two Oh Three Productions" which will both serve in partnership with BMG Rights Management. It features mainly hip hop and R&B sounds instead of the "pop-driven" sounds of her previous albums Planet Her (2021) and Hot Pink (2019).
Composition
During a cover story with Variety in February 2023, Doja Cat said that Scarlet will move away from the "pink and soft things" and "pop and glittery sounds" that she has been famous for; going instead for a more "masculine" direction.[2][3]
