Sen Sōshitsu XV (十五代千宗室, jū go dai sen sōshitsu, 19 April 1923 – 14 August 2025) was the 15th in a series of Japanese tea masters of the Urasenke family.[1]
Lineage
Sen Sōshitsu was the name of the head (iemoto) of the Urasenke school of the Japanese tea ceremony.
The first person in this line of the Sen family to use the name Sōshitsu was the youngest son of Sen Sōtan. He was a great-grandson of Sen Rikyū.
Death
Sen Genshitsu died from respiratory failure at a hospital in Kyoto on 14 August 2025, at the age of 102.[2]
