Senbi Mungyamba was a Meitei king of the Ningthouja dynasty of Ancient Kangleipak (early Manipur) who ruled from 1562 CE to 1597 CE.[1] Born Thangwai Ningthou Kiyamba,[2][3] he succeeded his father Chalamba at the age of 18.[4] In 1563, he invaded two identical cities Mungkhong and Mungyang in Kabaw Valley and defeated the Shan ruler.[5] He took the name "Mungyamba" from the conquest of Mungyang meaning, "the conqueror of Mungyang".[4] He was the father of Khagemba.[6]
During his reign, there were numerous numbers of migrations of native Tripuris to Manipur.[7]
