Serednie

Serednie (Ukrainian: Середнє, Hungarian: Szerednye, Russian: Среднее) is a town in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1417 as Zerednye. Near its border, at the entrance to a valley, lie the ruins of its old castle. The Serednie Castle was built in the 12th century by the Knights Templar, later owned by the Pauline monks, and then by the Drugeth Family.[1] The village is known as a famous wine-producing center, noted in a document from 1417.[2]
