Sherri Shepherd

Sherri Shepherd (born April 22, 1967)[1] is an American comedian and actress. She co-hosts The View on ABC Network. On the show Suddenly Susan, she played Miranda Charles and Roni. She also played Angie Jordan on the sitcom 30 Rock.[2]

Shepherd was born in Chicago.

Career

Shepherd's first role on television was as Victoria Carlson in the short sitcom Cleghorne!. This show was on The WB and ran for one season in 1995.[3] From 2007 to 2013, Sherri Shepherd played a character named Angie, who is the wife of Tracy Jordan, on the NBC comedy show 30 Rock. In 1998, she appeared in one episode of the popular show Friends. In 2009, she starred in a sitcom called Sherri, which was based on her own life and aired for one season on Lifetime Television.[4]

She co-hosted the 35th Daytime Emmy Awards on June 20, 2008. In 2010, she became the host of The Newlywed Game on the Game Show Network, taking over from Carnie Wilson. She hosted this show until it ended in 2013. Shepherd also hosted a special called NickMom Night Out on Nickelodeon from 2013 to 2014.[5][6]

Personal life

Shepherd was married to Jeff Tarpley from 2001 to 2010.[7] They have a son named Jeffrey, who was born in April 2005. On December 26, 2010, Shepherd became engaged to writer Lamar Sally.[8][9]

In 2015, they completed their divorce. Shepherd also questioned the surrogacy agreement and wanted to take her name off Lamar Jr.'s birth certificate. A court in Pennsylvania decided against Shepherd, saying she was legally responsible for the child.[10][11]
