Snap music (also known as ringtone rap or snap rap) is a subgenre of hip hop music that was formed in the early 2000s in the southern United States. It is derived from crunk.^[2] Instruments commonly use in the genre include an 808 bass drum, hi-hat, bass, snapping, a main groove and a vocal track.^[3] Popular snap artists include D4L, Dem Franchize Boys and K-Rab.
