Soul Food is an American family drama series made for Showtime. It starred Rockmond Dunbar, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Boris Kodjoe, Aaron Meeks, Nicole Ari Parker, Malinda Williams, and Vanessa Estelle Williams. The show ran from June 28, 2000 until May 26, 2004.[1] It is based on the 1997 movie of the same name.
The series follows the Josephs, who live in Chicago, Illinois. It shows the challenges they face after the death of the sisters' mother Josephine. Despite them, they still come together for dinner as a family.[2]
The series won many NAACP Image Awards. In 2001, it won Outstanding Youth Actor/Actress for Aaron Meeks. In 2002, it won Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Debbi Morgan, and Outstanding Youth Actor/Actress for Aaron Meeks. In 2003, it won Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for Vanessa A. Williams, and in 2004, it won Outstanding Drama Series.[3][4]
