Southdale Library was a public library in Edina, Minnesota. The library closed on January 6, 2025. A brand new Southdale Library will be built on the exisitng site. The new building is planned to open in Summer 2027.[1]
History
When the library opened in November 1973, it was the third largest public library in Minnesota. Southdale was one of the most advanced libraries when it opened. It had computers, televisions, recorders, projectors, and videotape equipment.
The library was the headquarters of Hennepin County Library until the Ridgedale Library was built in 1982.
The parking lot was expanded in November 1992. The building was expanded from January 1 to March 13, 1994.
