Soviet Armed Forces
The Military Armed Forces of the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic, and then the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, commonly known as the Soviet Armed Forces, the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union or the Soviet Military were the military armed forces of the Russian SFSR (1917–1922) and the Soviet Union (1922–1991). It was the armed forces of the Bolshevik Party since in the begining of the Russian Civil War of 1917–1923 (led by Vladimir Lenin) World War 2 (1939-1945) (led by Joseph Stalin) and the Cold War (1945-1991) .[1] They were also known as the Red Army from 1918 until the Soviet military was established in 1946 after World War 2 by .The Soviet military was also involved in the proxy wars during the Cold War like the Chinese Civil War,the Korean War the Cuban Revolution the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War as well as the Cambodian Civil War and the Cambodian–Vietnamese War as well the Soviet–Afghan War . In May 1992, Russian President Boris Yeltsin issued decrees forming the Russian Armed Forces. It included much of the Soviet Armed Forces.[2]
