After A bunch of scout dogs chicken out and leave, they decide to get rid of the dogs themselves. They venture down into the basement and discover many knickknacks, including a talking dog doorbell, a small door house that features several army toys, a talkative, dog, teddy bear, and more. The puppies than encounter the ghost dogs and Budderball throws a giant basket of empty Halloween candy straight towards his face. Shocked, the ghost dogs begin to chase the buddies, but they luckily managed to escape by closing the door. A panicked B-Dawg tell the puppies that if they can’t get rid of the ghost dogs, he’s gonna have to use a vacuum. Mudbud takes the vacuum and manages to suck up one of the ghost dogs, but soon it runs out of energy. The puppies decide to take shelter in the attic, the only place to keep safe and ghost dog free.
As the special night of the Halloween party, before the guest arrive, the puppies try to get rid of the ghost. Rosebud makes Home Alone-style traps, mud is uses mud puddles, budderball uses eggs, B-Dawg uses the bone knackers in order to knock one of the ghost dogs out, and Buddha uses his yoga moves, disguised with pink bubblegum, one that Budderball dislikes. As the ghost dogs arrive, they use their traps on them. The ghost dogs are covered in the traps, and they managed to lock them in the vacuum and hide them in the attic. The guest arrived in time and they start the Halloween party.
However, the dogs break out of the vacuum and break into the party. While directing the guests to safety of the attic, Buddha and Mudbud are left behind. However, they managed to convince the ghost dogs not to attack them. The dogs explain that, they moved into the mansion, and it became haunted, and they came out every Halloween, so they cannot get the guest into them. They didn’t want to go in the attic, as they believed it was too spooky. Sympathizing with them, the buddies tell them that, if they can stop scaring everyone, they can join in on the Halloween party and make some special costumes for them. After they are done, the guests are let out of attic and marvel over the ghost dogs, and they continue with the Halloween party.
as the film begins to end, the dog doorbell looks at the camera and says “Happy Halloween!” before howling and winks.
Deleted scenes
The first deleted scene features a scene where during the traps scene, Budderball was originally going to encounter one of them. When one of them attempted to scare him, he would give it a slap and tell him to go away. However, the ghost dogs would launch an egg and start egging him, making him retreat. He then jumps into the attic and hides, ending up, stuck in a flowerpot. As he goes in circles, he accidentally triggers a rope that leads him to be tied up and covered in bubblegum. The puppies hear at the sound of sloshing and see him stumbling out, covered in bubblegum. Rosie smiles and says that pink bubblegum is her favorite.
The second deleted scene was going to include where, while venturing the basement, Mudbud grows surprised by statue that looks like him. When he tweaks it, it lets out a smile, which frightens him and causes him to leave him alone. B-Dawg discovers that they all have statues of themselves, and accidentally causes its muzzle to fall off. He managed to glue it back together, though it briefly almost falls out before Rosie ties it up with a bow.
The final deleted scene included where, when the scout dogs attempt to drive the ghosts out, they go into the attic. All they find is a vacuum, which they use. Unfortunately, they accidentally suck up themselves in it, and they come out, covered in dust. As one of them says that this place doesn’t seem haunted and that maybe the ghost dogs want to come out, they accidentally bumped into them. The ghost dogs smile, and do faces, causing the scout dogs to faint out of shock. The dogs wonder if it was something they said. This was an alternate scene of when the scout dogs chicken out and leave.
