Tamannaah Bhatia (born 21 December 1989), is an Indian actress. She acts in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi movies. She has acted in many movies and won several awards. She is one of the highest-paid actresses in South Indian movies. [1][2]
Early life
Tamannaah Bhatia[a] was born Tamanna Santosh Bhatia[3] on 21 December 1989 in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. Her father is Santosh Bhatia, and her mother is Rajni Bhatia. She has an older brother, Anand Bhatia. She comes from a Sindhi Hindu family. She studied at Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School in Mumbai. At age 13, she began learning to act. She spent one year at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai, and performed on stage there.[4] At first, she used her real name, Tamanna, for acting. Later, she changed her name to Tamannaah because she believed it would bring good luck.[5] She then added her last name, becoming Tamannaah Bhatia, her stage name.[6]
Career
Tamannaah Bhatia started acting in 2005 with the Hindi movie Chand Sa Roshan Chehra.[7] That same year, she acted in the Telugu movie Sree. In 2006, she acted in her first Tamil movie, Kedi. In 2007, she acted in Happy Days (Telugu) and Kalloori (Tamil). People liked her roles as a college student in both movies, and the movies earned a lot of money.[8] These roles made her a leading actress in Telugu and Tamil cinema.[9]
She acted in many important Telugu movies, for example, Happy Days (2007), Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam (2009), 100% Love (2011), Oosaravelli (2011), Racha (2012), Tadakha (2013), Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Bengal Tiger (2015), Oopiri (2016), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), F2: Fun and Frustration (2019), Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019) and F3: Fun and Frustration (2022). Her important Tamil movies are, for example, Kalloori (2007), Ayan (2009), Paiyaa (2010), Siruthai (2011), Veeram (2014), Dharma Durai (2016), Devi (2016), Sketch (2018), Jailer (2023) and Aranmanai 4 (2024). She also acted in TV series, for example, 11th Hour (2021), November Story (2021), Jee Karda (2023), Aakhri Sach (2023) and Do You Wanna Partner (2025).[10]

Other works
Tamannaah Bhatia modeled in TV ads for brands, for example, Fanta and Chandrika Ayurvedic soap.[167][168] In March 2015, she became a brand ambassador for Zee Telugu. In the same month, she started her jewelry brand, Wite & Gold.[169][170] In January 2016, she joined the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign to support girls’ education and safety.[171] She wrote a book, Back to the Roots,[f] which Penguin Random House India published in August 2021.[172] In September 2022, she became an investor of Sugar Cosmetics.[173] She took on more brand ambassador roles for IIFL Finance in January 2023 and VLCC in July 2023.[174][175] In October 2023, she became the first Indian ambassador for Shiseido, a Japanese beauty brand.[176] In January 2024, she promoted earbuds and smartwatches as a brand ambassador for Cellecor Gadgets Limited.[177][178] In March 2024, she became a brand ambassador for Rasna, a soft drink mix.[179][180] In May 2025, she started promoting Mysore Sandal Soap for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited for two years.[181][182]
