Tampere University (short: TAU) is a public university in Tampere, Finland. It is Finland's second-largest university by number of students. The university started on January 1, 2019. It was formed by combining the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology.[1]
History
The University of Tampere began in 1925 in Helsinki as a small school teaching public administration, management, and journalism. In 1930, it became the School of Social Sciences. By 1960, it had grown and moved to Tampere. In 1966, it was renamed the University of Tampere.[2]
