Hocking's water frog (Telmatobius hockingi) is a frog. It lives in Peru.[2][3][1]
Home
This frog spends some of its time in the water and some on land. Scientists saw under rocks in streams where the water moves fast. The stream was in a forest with alder trees. The scientists saw the frog 2700 meters above sea level.[1][2]
People
People catch other frogs in Telmatobius to eat, sell, and make into mediine, so scientists think they might catch T. hockingi too.[1]
Danger
Scientists from the IUCN say they do not know if this frog is in danger of dying out. They think it might be in danger because human beings change the places where it lives by cutting down forests to make farms and taking water from the river to give to plants. Scientists believe the fungal disease chytridiomycosis might kill this frog because it has killed other frogs in Telmatobius, but they have not seen the fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis on any frogs in this species yet.[1]
