Treasure Buddies
Treasure Buddies is an adventure comedy drama film release in January 2012 about buddies traveling the world to look for a secret treasure traveling around the world. It is inspired by the 1987 film Chipmunk Adventure. The film also was in a slipcover before it was released on DVD.
Plot
Before their owners leave for a special trip, they leave the puppies to be home alone, trusting them to look after themselves. While playing fetch their own traditional way, the puppies look at the newspaper, which reveals that a special treasure has been hidden for many years. Excited, the puppies learn that their parents always wanted to find the ancient treasure, but after nearly dying in a cave in, the treasure remain hidden ever since.
The puppies decide to grow in groups. Their first stop is the rainforest, where they end up meeting a beatboxing monkey named Francisco, who ate the puppies with looking for the treasure. However, he traps them in a pit, revealing that he had tricked them. While spending the night in the pit, Budderball, Buddha, and B-Dawg are captured by chihuahuas, who attempt to sacrifice them by throwing it in the pit in the belief that that it will grant them the gift of the fire king. Rosebud and Mudbud go to rescue them, only to end up being the servants delivering them platters of food to fatten them up. Luckily, they managed to distract them with the help from mud but learning to beatbox and eventually escape. Chihuahuas recognized the deception and chase them, but with the help from rosebud using a rope of bows, they escape.
The next stop is New Zealand, where Budderball tries the curry for the first time. It turns out to be spicy, leading him to go find water. He eventually meets a talking parrot named Waddleworth, who reveals his desire to be other animals. The puppies do not trust him, but after he convinces them, they finally allow them to lead.
they steal a hot-air balloon, use it to travel the world, and eventualy end up in Mexico. While looking for the grand treasure, Mudbud trips and ends up causing a chain reaction, which eventually leads to a fiesta starting. While attempting to find him, Wildsworth accidentally releases the balloons and becomes entangled in them. He and Rosebud work together to pop the balloons, find Mudbud, and safely land in the balloons.
The puppies attempt to open the freezer after they starve, and Butterball hallucinates them as food, but they suddenly find out that a baby penguin has went inside. They take turns caring for the baby penguin. B-Dawg becomes attached to him but does so from the puppies. After returning the baby penguin, the puppies stop nearby and go to Bermuda to scuba dive. Mudbud reveals his fear of the water. The puppies console him and scuba dive-into the water, and eventually swim into a cave, led by a sunken city. While reaching an air pocket, they encounter Francisco again, who had followed them. The puppies, angry with Francisco for betraying them, splash him and throw a seastar at his face.
The puppies are still swimming underwater into the sunken city, and they hear music. Although they feel that they are being are led into a trap, it turns out to be Waddleworth, who, despite staying behind, had to follow them with a submarine. He leads the puppies towards another air pocket, where they find out that the city is being led by lobsters, much to Rosie’s chargrin and disappointment, as she was awaiting to see mermaids. The puppies decide to stay in the sunken city, but Buddha, feeling that something is not right, tell the puppies that they should leave. The lobsters follow them into a chase, and they accidentally start a chain reaction again that blocks the exit. Waddleworth knocks over the statue of another big lobster, which causes all of the lobster to retreat. The puppies swim up to the surface to get air again and encounter a floating diamond.
The puppies continue on the hot-air balloon and they arrive in England. They end up trying English food for the first time and, to Budderball’s delight, they also have Turkish delights. They find that a man had lost the diamond while he flew away in a helicopter, which caused it to land into the ocean and float. While chasing the man, they accidentally knock over some corgis, who, despite being surprised that the puppies had made it here, learn of the treasure and tell them that they once tried to find the treasure, but they gave up after they went in circles. B-Dawg find out that the man had stole the diamond. A chase through London causes them to end up accidentally knocking over the guards like dominoes. They managed to expose the man. He is arrested for stealing the diamond, and it is returned.
The puppies continue again, but in a storm, the hot-air balloon is popped by lightning and falls. B-Dawg oses consciousness and separated from the puppies. When he awakens, he finds himself stranded in the rainforest. He is captured by Francisco, who reveals to Lucky that he was not a beatboxing monkey but actually a cheating monkey and had tricked him into complying. He had also followed the puppies and was looking for treasure. He then weakened B-Dawg by pouring candle water all over him, making him lose consciousness.
The puppies had survived the hot-air balloon fall and are about to fall into a volcano. As Rosebud despairs that they will never again see the treasure, they find out that the hot-air balloon has a special burner, which they used to lift it more. They then find and rescue B-Dawg, much to his gratitude.
The puppies arrive in Egypt, and they find there an ancient pyramid. As they journey inside, they end up in traps. A giant trap features tranquilizer dart, which the puppies narrowly avoid. A booby trap has a boulder. An egg-folding trap has them are all egged. A wall-crushing room and a room with many bugs nearly crawl over them, but they use a huge flipping room to get to safety down below. After accidentally pushing a huge chamber with a mummy inside, they finally find the treasure of gold, but Francisco catches up to them. After resulting in a battle with the traps, they defeat Francisco by throwing him into a pit, and they successfully escape with the treasure.
The treasure is found, and everyone is thankful for the puppies, whose parents express pride in them. They could not have done it without finding the treasure, and they decide to watch an Indiana Jones movie, much to their delight.
