Trinidad is a city in Bolivia. It is the capital of Beni Department.
History
It was founded on the banks of the Mamoré River by the Jesuit Cipriano Barace in 1686 under the name of La Santísima Trinidad, as part of the Jesuit Missions of Moxos.
Some sources mention June 9, 1686 as the founding date of the Trinidad mission. Due to the unfavorable situation caused by river flooding, the site was moved in 1769 to about 14 kilometers, carried out by Father Pedro de la Rocha. Today it is located at 160 meters above sea level, near the Ibare River.
