Uppalapu Shrinivas (Telugu: ఉప్పలపు శ్రీనివాస్; 28 February 1969 – 19 September 2014), better known by his stage name U. Srinivas, was an Indian mandolinist and music educator. He performed under the Carnatic musical tradition. He was given many awards including: Padma Shri (1998) and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2010). He worked with musicians such as John McLaughlin, Michael Nyman, and Michael Brook.
Srinivas was born in Palakol, Andhra Pradesh. He was married to Sree from 1994 until their divorce in 2012. They had one son, Sai Krishna who is also known as Nani Krish.
Srinivas died from liver failure on 19 September 2014 in Chennai. He was 45.[1]
