Uraj
Uraj is a former independent village in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. It has been part of Ózd since 1978.
Location
It is in the Uraj stream valley, 3.2 km northwest of Ózd, near the Hungary-Slovakia border. Its northwestern neighbor is Susa, 3 km away.
History
The name of the village was Wray in 1216, Vraj in 1360, and Wraja in 1427. After the Turkish destruction, people left, but later they came back.[1] The Roman Catholic church was built in 15th century.[2]
Since 1978, it has been part of the city of Ózd.
