Velikkakathu Sankaran Achuthanandan (20 October 1923 – 21 July 2025), popularly known by his initials V. S., was an Indian politician. He served as the Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011. Achuthanandan was a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)|CPI(M) Politburo from 1985 until July 2009.[2]
Achuthanandan turned 100 in October 2023.[3]
Achuthanandan died on 21 July 2025 at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, India from problems caused by cardiac arrest, aged 101.[4][5]
