Valentyna Ksenofontivna Rastvorova (Ukrainian: Валентина Ксенофонтовна Растворова; 17 July 1933 – 24 August 2018) was a Ukrainian[1] fencer. Rastvorova was in the 1956 Summer Olympics, 1960 Summer Olympics, and the 1964 Summer Olympics. She won two silver medals and one gold medal.[1]

Personal life

She was born in Odesa, Ukraine. Her daughter, Yelena Grishina, was in the Olympics.[2]

Her grandson, Sergey Bida, is an épée fencer.[3] He won a silver medal in Tokyo.[4][5] He is also an épée champion.[6] He moved to the United States in 2023.[7]

Career

Rastvorova was in three Olympic Games in the individual foil and team foil events. She won an individual silver medal and team gold medal in 1960, and a team silver medal in 1964.[8] At the 1956 Olympics, she came in fifth place.[9]

After retiring, she was a coach at her club, Dynamo Moscow. [10][11]

Death

Rastvorova died on 17 July 1933, at the age of 85.[12]
