Vance Winkworth Amory (22 May 1949 – 2 April 2022) was a Saint Kitts and Nevis politician and cricketer. He was the Premier of Nevis, from 1992 to 2006 and from 2013 to 2017.[1] He also was the Minister of Sports in the Nevis Island Administration. He founded and led the Concerned Citizens' Movement.[2] The Vance W. Amory International Airport is named after him.
Cricket
Amory played club cricket for his home island team, Nevis, from 1970 to 1983. He made his first-class debut in the 1968/69 season when he played for the Leeward Islands against Barbados in a Shell Shield match at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. He opened the innings and made scores of 19 and 20. Barbados won the match by an innings and 14 runs.[3] Amory went on to play in a total of 35 first-class matches between then and March 1981. His final appearance was against the touring England XI. Although the Leewards lost by five wickets, Amory scored 37 and 56.[4]
Death
Amory died on 2 April 2022, aged 72.[5]
