A vulnerable species is a species of animals or plants which are threatened with extinction unless something changes. They will disappear unless the things that threaten their survival, such as a slow rate of reproduction, are removed.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has categorized vulnerable species. 4728 animals and 4914 plants are listed as vulnerable by the Union.^[1]
