Western Province men's cricket team

The Western Province men's cricket team, based in Cape Town, has been active since 1864. The team has first-class status, and is organised by the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA). They have competed in South Africa's national championship, currently known as the CSA 4-Day Series, since the 1892–93 season.[1] During the franchise period from 2004 to 2021, Western Province was replaced by the Cape Cobras, which also represented Boland. The team have won the championship 18 times, most recently in 2003–04, and have shared the title in three other seasons. Their home ground is Newlands, in Cape Town, which opened in 1888.
