William "Gatz" Hjortsberg (February 23, 1941 – April 22, 2017) was an American novelist and screenwriter. He was known for writing the screenplay of the movie Legend.[1] His novel Falling Angel was the basis for the movie Angel Heart (1987).[2]
Hjortsberg died on April 22, 2017 in Livingston, Montana from pancreatic cancer, aged 76.[3]
