Wojciech Polak (born 19 December 1964)[1] is a Polish Roman Catholic prelate who has served as the Archbishop of Gniezno and the Primate of Poland since 2014.
Early life and education
Wojciech Polak was born in Inowrocław, Poland.[2] He studied moral theology at the Faculty of Theology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He was ordained a priest on 13 June 1989 by Cardinal Józef Glemp. He later earned a doctorate in moral theology at the Alphonsian Academy.[1][3]
Ecclesiastical career
Polak was appointed an auxiliary bishop of Gniezno in 2003 and consecrated by Archbishop Henryk Muszyński on 4 May 2003. In 2014, he was appointed the Archbishop of Gniezno and the Primate of Poland, succeeding Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk.[1][3]
