Wolfgang Mario Mair (born 17 February 1980 in Lienz) is a former Austrian football player. He played as forward for different clubs in Austria. He also played for the Austrian national football team.

Career

Mair started playing club football at SV Rapid Lienz . At the age of 16 he moved to the youth division of FC Tirol Innsbruck in the winter of the 1996/97 season. In 1998 he was promoted to the first team by Kurt Jara. He made his debut on November 14, 1998 in the home game against Vorwärts Steyr and won the Austrian championship three times with the club. After FC Tirol went bankrupt, the striker joined SV Pasching. After one season there he went to the newly founded FC Wacker Tirol. He was called up to the Austrian national football team, and played his first international match in February 2005 at the International Cyprus Tournament in Limassol.

In the summer of 2005 he moved to FC Red Bull Salzburg. There he was mostly a substitute and in the summer of 2006 he moved to the reigning champions FK Austria Wien. With them he won the ÖFB Cup in 2007. From 2008 to 2010 he played for SK Austria Kärnten. Then he moved down to the first division with First Vienna FC. In February 2010 he had to take a long injury break. From summer 2012 on he played for FC Liefering. He helped the club to get promoted to the first division. He stayed there for two years and later ended his playing career at USC Eugendorf.

Wolfgang Mair has completed the UEFA A license coaching exam. After the end of his career Mair works independently in his advertising agency (mAIR-GRAPHIX e.U.) and also as painter. He designed running jerseys for Wings for Life and the jerseys of the ice hockey players of EC Red Bull Salzburg.
