Yacht rock

Yacht rock is a type of music. At first it was called the West Coast sound[1] or adult-oriented rock. It is a lot like soft rock. Soft rock was one of the most popular types of music from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. Yacht rock was influenced (shaped) by other kinds of music like smooth soul, smooth jazz, R&B, and disco.[2] Yacht rock songs usually have high-quality production, clean vocals, and a focus on light, catchy melodies. This kind of music was first called yacht rock in 2005 by the people who made an online comedy video series that was also named Yacht Rock. These people made the connection between the music and boating. Calling it “yacht rock” was thought of as an insult by some music reviewers.
