Anne W. Burrell (September 21, 1969 – June 17, 2025) was an American chef, celebrity and teacher at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosted the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosted Worst Cooks in America. She was one of Mario Batali's sous chefs in the Iron Chef America series. She appeared on other programs on the network, such as The Best Thing I Ever Ate.
Burrell died on June 17, 2025, having been found at her apartment in Brooklyn, New York City.[1][2] Her death was a drug-related suicide.[3]
Burrell was born in Cazenovia, New York. She liked cooking since she was a child, and was inspired by her mother's cooking and Julia Child.[1] Burrel got a degree in English and Communications from Canisius University, and went to The Culinary Institute of America, graduating in 1996.[4]
