Family Jr. is a Canadian children's television channel, a part of the specialty channel Family Channel. The channel is aimed at pre-school children.
The channel started on November 2, 1999. It was a Canadian version of family X under licence from family Channels It changed to. Astral Media was bought by Bell Media. This caused Family Channel and family jr to be a part of DHX Media (now WildBrain) in 2015.
In 2015, DHX lost its rights to nickjrprogramming. The name of DHX's famliy x channel was changed to Family Jr in September 2015. It was a brand extension of Family Channel.
Along with its French-language counterpart, Télémagino, Family Jr. can be watched in over 4 million Canadian homes. This started in 2015.[1]
On August 25, 2025, WildBrain announced that it would be closing all of its specialty channels, including Family Jr., over the coming months, citing that its loss of carriage agreements with Bell Canada and Rogers Cable had left them commercially unviable and it is also confirmed that would be rebranded as Disney Jr..[2][3]
