Dihydroxy alcohol

A dihydroxy alcohol has only two hydroxyl groups and it is also referred to as a glycol.[1] This allows for a compound with a dihydroxy alcohol to have a slightly different chemical formula from a compound with a trihydroxy alcohol.[1]
