iPhone Air is a smartphone made and sold by Apple, part of the nineteenth generation of iPhones. The phone was announced along the lower-priced iPhone 17 and the higher-priced iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max during the Apple Event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, on September 9, 2025. Replacing the Plus series, the iPhone Air begins a reformed option with a attention on light design and better features.[2][3] With a depth of 5.6 mm (0.22 in), it is the thinnest iPhone ever made, even thinner than the 6.9 mm (0.27 in) thick iPhone 6.[4][5][6]
Details
Design
The iPhone Air has a very slim titanium body compared to the aluminum iPhone 17 phones, also being the lightest of the A19 or A19 Pro iPhones.[7] The back glass uses Ceramic Shield, while the front glass uses Ceramic Shield 2. The back has an elevated part that has the cameras, speaker, and logic board, allowing more space for the battery. The iPhone Air will come in four colors: Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, and Space Black.[8]
| Color | Name |
|---|---|
| Sky Blue | |

| Cloud White | |
| Space Black |
Set of chips
The iPhone Air has the new A19 Pro system-on-chip. The chip has a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It uses the new Apple-designed C1X modem[9] and N1 networking chips, part of a tendency by Apple to design their own support chips.[4] The N1 chip includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
Screen
The iPhone Air includes a 6.5" Super Retina XDR OLED screen a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz (times per second). The screen has a resolution of 2736×1260 at 460 pixels per inch. It has Always-On function and adjusts down to 1 Hz when not in use.[2]
Camera
The iPhone Air has a 48-megapixel Fusion camera system with a single lens.[2] As it lacks an ultrawide lens, it does not have a macro photography mode and cannot take spatial photos (a type of photo for virtual reality headsets).
The front of the phone has an 18-megapixel Center Stage camera. The front camera has the first square sensor on an iPhone and can expand the field of view or turn from portrait to landscape orientation for group photos.[10]
Connectivity
Due to its thin build, the iPhone Air doesn't have the conventional physical SIM card reader; it instead it has an eSIM. eSIM-only iPhones were first sold in the United States with the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. All iPhone Air units will be sold with eSIM worldwide.[11]
Security
Starting with all iPhone 17 models and iPhone Air, devices based on the A19 and A19 Pro include Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE).[12][13]
