Leo Joseph Ryan Jr. (May 5, 1925 – November 18, 1978) was an American teacher and politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He was the U.S. Representative from California's 11th congressional district from 1973 until his assassination as one of the victims of the Jonestown massacre in 1978.
Death
On November 18, 1978, Ryan was shot to death by members of Peoples Temple in the Cessna aircraft during Jonestown ambush. He was 53 years old.
