Lia (Korean: 리아; born Choi Ji-su on July 21, 2000) is a South Korean singer. She is a member of the girl group Itzy, which was formed by JYP Entertainment in 2019.
Early life
Lia was born on July 21, 2000, in Incheon, South Korea. While in elementary school, she moved to Toronto, Canada.[1] She later returned to South Korea and attended North London Collegiate School in Jeju.[1] In 2017, she passed an audition for JYP Entertainment and trained for two years.[2] She graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul.[3]
Career
2019–present: Itzy and solo songs
Lia started with Itzy in 2019, when they released their first single album, It'z Different, and the song "Dalla Dalla".[4] In 2022, she released her solo song "Always Be Your Star" for the TV show The Red Sleeve.[5] Later, she sang "Blue Flower" for Alchemy of Souls.[6] In 2023, she released "One Hundred Love" for Dr. Romantic.[7]
In September, it was announced that Lia would take a break to focus on her health.[8] During this time, she co-wrote and released "Blossom" for her fans, which is featured on Itzy's EP Born to Be.[9]
In 2024, Lia returned to Itzy after recovering and resumed activities with the group.[10] She also sang "Why Not" for the TV show The Fiery Priest, and "Woodahe" for The Tale of Lady Ok.[11][12]
