Mandya district
Mandya District is an administrative district of Karnataka, India. Mandya is the main town in Mandya District. In 2011, there were 1,808,680 people in this District.[1] Mandya District has five important rivers: Kaveri River and four tributaries main Hemavathi, Shimsha, Lokapavani, Veeravaishnavi.[2]
It is known for its rich agriculture and sugarcane fields. Because of this, it is sometimes called the "Sugar City" of Karnataka.
The land in Mandya [3] is very fertile, mainly because of the rivers that flow through the district. These rivers help the farmers grow crops like sugarcane, paddy (rice) and ragi. Most people in Mandya District live in villages and work in farming.
The district also has some old temples and cultural places, which are important for local festivals and traditions. One famous place is Melukote, which is a holy town known for its temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.[4]
Mandya is close to big cities like Mysuru (Mysore) and Bengaluru (Bangalore), so it is easy to reach by road or train. The people of Mandya speak Kannada, which is the main language of Karnataka.
