Primary alcohol
A primary alcohol is where no carbon atoms or just one carbon atom is connected to the hydroxyl-containing carbon atom.[1] This allows a compound with a primary alcohol to have a slightly different chemical formula from a compound with a secondary alcohol or tertiary alcohol.[1]
