The Second Bulgarian Empire was a medieval Bulgarian state that existed between 1185 and 1396 and succeeded the First Bulgarian Empire.[1] The Second Bulgarian Empire reached its golden age under Tsars Kaloyan and Ivan Asen II before being slowly conquered by the Ottomans in the late 14th century.
