Steven Smith Jr. (born December 24, 1945) is a Canadian actor, comedian and writer. He is best known for his role as Red Green in the comedy series The Red Green Show. He has acted in movies, television, and voice acting.

Smith has also done stand-up comedy and began a comedy duo with his wife Morag as Smith & Smith. A series starring the two titled Smith & Smith aired from 1975 until 1985 and was Smith's first break in television acting.[1] After their children Max and David were born, the family created another sitcom titled Me & Max which ran from 1985 until 1986.[2]

On January 4, 1991, Smith found his greatest success when he created and debuted The Red Green Show on CHCH and eventually CBC Television. Smith portrayed the title character Red Green, a self-proclaimed handyman and the leader of Possum Lodge. The show ran from January 4, 1991 until April 7, 2006 and Smith has portrayed the character ever since.[3] He makes many appearances at events as Red Green.

On February 17, 2006, Smith became a Member of the Order of Canada.[4] On February 24, 2023, he was inducted into the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame as both a Creator and Performer.[5]
