It topped the single charts in Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States. It went to number 2 in Belgium, Denmark and Hungary, number 3 in Germany and the Netherlands, number 5 in Italy and number 6 in Austria. The song was nominated for three MTV Video Music Awards in 2014.
