Tiszatardos
Tiszatardos is a village in Tokaj District of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. Its population in 2024 was 205.
Location
It is about 10 kilometers south of Tokaj. Most of it is on the right side of the Tisza, but a small part has been moved to the left side due to changes in the river. It is next to three places: Tiszaladány to the northeast, Csobaj to the west, and Tiszalök across the river to the south.
History
Tiszatardos was first mentioned in writing as Tardos in 1395.The first church was built in 1736, and a rectory was built in 1744.The Roman Catholic parish of Tiszatardos started in 1749.The rectory burned down in 1777 but was rebuilt the next year.The current church was finished in 1813 and was updated and made bigger in 1936.
Population
In 2022, 90% of the population identified as Hungarian, 2.4% as German, 0.9% as Gypsy, 0.5% as Polish, 0.5% as Romanian, 2.4% as other non-national (8.5% did not declare; due to dual identities, the total may be higher than 100%). By religion, 49.8% were Roman Catholic, 17.1% Reformed, 2.4% Greek Catholic, 0.5% other Christian, 8.5% non-denominational (21.3% did not respond).[1]
