Utah Valley University (UVU) is a public university in Orem, Utah, United States. UVU gives classes that are for master's, bachelor's, associate degrees, and certificates.[4] Before 2008, it was called Utah Valley State College.

The school was founded in 1941. At this time, the school was known as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS).[5]

In 1963, the name was changed from CUVS[6] to Utah Trade Technical Institute.

UVU is the largest employer in Orem,[7] with over 1,900 full-time employees and over 3,300 part-time employees.[8]

On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk, an American right-wing activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on campus during The American Comeback Tour event. Kirk was taking questions and debating attendees when he was shot in the neck.[9]
